I’m going to be honest with you. I didn’t grow up eating Hot Cross Buns (GASP).
I was eventually offered a piece of those glorious steaming hot cross buns with a side of butter and I’ve dreamt of them ever since. Luckily, I was invited to a Hot Cross Buns Masterclass held by Bake Bar. To set the atmosphere, it was a cold rainy day and nothing was better than being engulfed in the smell of baked goods. I could already tell that Bake Bar is home to a passionate baker upon entrance with all the busy workers and smiling customers.
If you didn’t already know, I’m not exactly gifted in the baking department unless it comes out of a packet. Thankfully, our baker, Gorgeous Gili Gold as I will call her from now, guided us through step by step of being an Artisan Baker.
Using only sustainable and organic produce, you can taste the difference in the goods. Baking is honestly like borderline magic. GGG popped in the oven some Bake Bar’s gluten free flour mix, filtered water, fresh yeast, organic juicy apricots, cranberries and currants with cinnamon and out came some amazingly aromatic goods.
After cooking my very own Hot Cross Buns, I decided it was time for me to sit down, relax and let someone else cook for me.
Freshly baked bread.
Mixed Breakfast Bowl
A mixture of berries, granola and nuts with yoghurt and more!
Chicken Salad w/ Haloumi
Marinated Grilled chicken, grilled corn, sun-dried tomato, celery, juicy apple, crunch croutons, shallots and mixed lettuce dressed with garlic and lemon aioli. Your girl here got some haloumi added to the mix because who doesn’t like Haloumi?! Great refreshing salad that really filled me up.
I would definitely be back at Bake Bar for more of their baked goods (my nostrils kept steering towards the savoury pies). I also have to thank Bake Bar for their generosity and trusting me enough not to burn down their bakery hehe.
