We were very pleased to be invited to a long boozy brunch held by Three Williams to showcase some of the incredible wines supplied by the lovely people from Exclusive Vines.
Chorizo and Haloumi Stack $19
Anything with the words ‘Chorizo and Haloumi’ grab my attention straight away. This baby was made up of grilled chorizo layered with eggplant, baby spinach and haloumi. Stacked on top of sourdough and topped with a fried egg. Served with house cranberry dressing.
Bodega Del Fin Del Mundo Sparkling, Argentina
The stack was paired with this light and bubbly Pinot Noir/Chardonnay mix. The wine has tiny delicate bubbles with aromas of tropical fruits, slight notes of toasted bread and a long red fruit finish.
Squid and Chorizo Salad $18
Now I’ve always been a believer in the saying “You don’t make friends with salad…” But I could easily make an exception for this one. Packed full of grilled squid and chorizo with rocket, radicchio, roasted almonds and a balsamic glaze. This was actually heartier than I expected, with a great mix of strong flavours.
Tomero Torrontes 2012, Salta, Argentina
Paired with the salad was this Tomero Torontes. A full bodied white that’s fresh and fruity with aromas of rosehip, lychee, jasmine with a soft lingering finish.
Beer Battered Chips with House Aioli $7
The best, most crunchiest chips ever!
Pork Narnie $12
A delicious handful, the narnie is soft and doughy and is filled to the brim with pulled pork shoulder, carrot slaw, chilli caramel with fresh mint and coriander.
From the light crunch of the carrot to the soft tender bite of the pork this dish is definitely the winner of the day.
Tomero Malbec 2012, Uco Valley, Argentina
Another full bodied wine, this one with aromas of blackcurrant, fresh plums, dried figs and
vanilla. Rich textured with a long enjoyable finish.
Finishing off the meal was this very pretty Berry Cheese Cake. Both rich and light at the same time. This was courtesy of Three Williams’ amazing pastry chef who makes cakes and sweets daily using fresh, seasonal ingredients, and can create tailored cakes for groups and events.
