Gastronomy, awarded caterer of the year for 2013 and 2014 is a premium catering company who have recently launched their new Rustic Colour Menu and invited 2 Hungry Guys to come along for a taste test.

DSC08551Their creative director, Marcus Longinotti, believes that the success of Gastronomy is due to their ability to create beautiful experiences. He says that “Food, fashion and design are always at the forefront of what they do”.

DSC08556The beautiful setting is decked out in rustic, neutrals with splashes of vivid colours throughout and aims to be both a culinary and visual feast. “Rustic Colour is a multi-sensory dining experience”.


Corn on the cob, spicy lime mayonnaise and parmesan

The first bite, and every bite after that, is a mouthful full of juicy sweetness followed by a savoury saltiness. Everything everyone loves about a fresh cob of corn.

These zucchini followers are filled with a delicious mix of ricotta, lemon zest and broad beans creating beautifully delicate parcels, that burst in your mouth.

DSC08565Frazer island sashimi spanner crab, pink grapefruit, mint and coconut curd

A summery and fresh dish full of zesty and tropical flavour. I particularly liked the flavour and texture combo of the subtly sweet spanner crab sashimi and the sharp acidity of the grapefruit.

DSC08566Haloumi, sweet and sour figs, broccoli and hazelnuts salad

A lovely and hearty salad, the mix of the sweet/sour citrus and figs with the salty halloumi worked wonders for me.


Verjuice braised lamb shoulder, lemon thyme and garlic confit

I can never say no to a good shoulder of lamb. Cooked to perfection and falling apart at the touch, the meat was moist and tender with a lovely caramelised jus and delicious herby flavours.

Really lovely! The fish was moist and flaky working well with the seasonally fresh broadbeans and the pungent flavour of the artichoke broth.

DSC08575Roast Spatchcock

My favourite of the night. Each spatchcock was expertly de-boned then stuffed with a full-flavoured and earthy swiss mushroom mix. The chicken was perfectly tender, cutting like butter.


Deconstructed Ice Vovos

A trip into my childhood with this ingenious little dessert. The gram cracker is dipped in raspberry or apricot jam, to which you add a spoonful of coconut and raspberry cream. Sinfully delicious!
