Ever since it opened I’ve always tried to find an occasion to really splurge at Monopole. Luckily for me a close friend was born 27 years to the day. So we decide to celebrate her birth, foodie style.
Pacific Oysters $4
Nothing says a celebration for me like a plate of freshly shucked oyster. Always a great choice to start a meal. These were served fresh with a slice of lemon.
House Cured Meats $26
A great little board comprised of Duck Breast, Rangers Valley Brisket, Rangers Valley Bresaola and Berkshire Pork Neck all cured to perfection. These tasty cold cuts come with some tangy pickled veggies.
Chicken Liver Parfait & Grilled Sourdough 14
A gorgeous parfait that’s rich and velvety with great flavour. Served warm with toasted bread. This was so good I scrapped that little pot clean!
A default order whenever it’s on a menu and Monopole did a fantastic job with this. The meat was freshly hand cut, then injected throughout with creamy egg yolk and sprinkled with dehydrated olive and crispy fried spring onion. Superb.
Grilled Lamb Rump $29
Lamb is one of my favourite meats, and dishes like this really make me realise why. The meat was cooked to pink perfection then given a good crisping on the grill, caramelising all that rich fat. Absolutely divine!
Cheese Board $26
I’m more of a savoury guy, always preferring a nice cheese selection over a sweet dessert. So I was very please with myself for convincing my friend that a cheese board is just as special as cake on her birthday. Now I dont remember what types they all were but the stand out for me was the circular goats cheese. Rich and creamy, this was heaven spread on a cracker. Literally.
