El Jannah, Punchbowl

It’s definitely the unexpected food adventures that make for the best ones. This one was a late night snack (I use the word snack lightly) at a local favourite. I often visit the brother location of the famous El Jannah’s in Granville, however the Punchbowl location did not fall short.

Literally piles of steaming hot charcoal chicken. Mhhhm.

Half Chicken (Eat In $10.50) – served with pickles and garlic sauce.

Not being a a fan of pink radish I was happily served with a double helping of pickles instead. The garlic sauce was so creamy and covering a punch-in-the-face garlic flavour. The chicken was soft and tender while the skin was crispy and full of charcoal flavour.

Medium Bowl of Chips ($4)

A generous bowl of crispy chips – the kind you crave for at 2am in the morning (#LateNightGlutton). Perfect for dipping the garlic sauce in.

El Jannah is the type of place that you can sit and have a proper meal at or takeaway to enjoy at home. Either way this is quality eating in a casual environment that has made a strong glowing reputation for itself that is truly deserved.

  1. LOL “#foreverrolling”, those turning chooks are hypnotic. The Punchbowl EJ branch is the best IMO, not crazy busy + featuring the juiciest of chickens.
