Located in Bondi on Hall Street is a fresh and simple dining experience by Maurice Terzini and Orazio D’Elia.
No skimping on tradition here. The pizzas are naturally risen for 48 hours, 100% handmade and cooked the Neapolitan Way in the wood-fired pizza oven.
With a constant buzz of popularity and casual atmosphere Da Orazio is no boar.. (heh)
Porchetta Alla Romana
I cannot express how damn good this porchetta is. Seriously. The most succulent, juicy flavorsome pork I’ve had in a long time. Slow roasted, deboned and rolled, the pork is cooked and served the traditional Italian way. The meat is coated in a fragrant herb mix that gets even better drizzled in fresh lemon juice.
Ghiottona – Fior di Latte, San Marzano Tomato, Salami, Gorgonzola, Capsicum $23
Great slice! The mix of fior di latte and gorgonzola give this pizza delicious creaminess that goes superbly with the rich tomato base and salty salami.
Rustica – Smoked Mozzarella, Sausage and Potatos $24
A potato and sausage pizza is always a favourite for me. The smoked mozzarella was particularly good sitting hand in hand with the smokey flavour of the chewy crust.
Focaccia Con Porchetta – Porchetta from the Rotisserue, Cos Lettuce, Marinated Grilled Eggplant, Servied in pizza bread $26
Walking into a restaurant ravenous can be very dangerous. Especially when the servings are as big as they are at Da Orazio. This massive plate holds an absolutely mouthwatering focaccia filled with that amazing porchetta, lettuce, soft marinated eggplant all covered in creamy, herby sauce.
Malloreddus with Saffron infused Sausage Ragu $23
Interesting dish this one, The plump little pasta shells are great at catching the rich tomato and sausage ragu. The saffron give the sauce a complex, slightly bitter taste that was actually really tasty.
