With Instagram photos of their Acai Bowl popping up all over the place, we needed to try this place for ourselves. Culture Bean in Kogarah is a small café located on a quiet street intersection. You’ll notice it from the large amount of people waiting to get a table around brunch/lunch time.
Banana and Honey Smoothie – super sweet and refreshing
Served icy cold with blueberries, strawberries, passionfruit, granola, coconut and banana. You cannot get much healthier than this. The fresh ingredients sit atop a bed of sorbet like acai puree mix, turning this brekkie into a superfood wonder and a really refreshing way to start the day.
Culture Bean Breakfast
Severed in a large paella pan, their breakfast included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, haloumi, avocado, mushrooms and two slices of sourdough bread. A really hearty dish for those who like a filling breakfast, I really enjoyed it, particularly the giant sautéed mushies and the perfectly crisped bacon.
The latest trend, a cross between a croissant and a donut. This was definitely an over indulgent on my part, having picked the one covered in Nutella and sugar. Yuuuuum!
Culture Bean is homely and cosy café. The interior is wooden and exposed brick with a funky old red telephone box that houses their fridge. There’s a constant crowd and plenty of outdoor seating.
We’ll be making a return.
