Nowadays, Messina stores are opening up all over the place, left right and centre. And every suburb is easily located within reach of Australia’s favourite gelato. So just when you thought Messina couldn’t get any better, they reinvent themselves. We introduce to you, (drum roll please) their very own Gelato Messina Dessert Bar! The concept is simple. You choose everything.
This is not your typical soft serve do it yourself gelato stand or froyo counter. Everything is made from scratch and is fancy, out of this world, super creative and scrumptious.
Start off choosing your base: cup, plain waffle cone, raspberry waffle cone, crepe, choux puff or doughnut.
Add your soft serve gelato – Burnt Vanilla or Fanta Sorbet. (these were the two flavour’s available at the moment, I assume they will constantly change and reinvent new ones)
Lastly add your additions and toppings each priced at 80 cents. The options include and are no way limited too – Hot fudges, choc top dip, mango or coconut foam, raspberry or strawberry and crème jellies, mandarin or raspberry gel, creamies and a wide selection of “Bits & Bobs” and “Crunch Bits” including fairy floss, smoked buttered popcorn or and meringue.
Our creation: Soft serve Burnt Vanilla gelato sitting on a doughnut. Topped with crème panacotta and fairy floss
If all of that sounds too overwhelming and complicated for you, Messina have simplified your soft serve choice and offer 8 suggested options – $9.9 each

All desserts are made to order on the spot. It is quite a detailed and time consuming process to create your very own gelato masterpiece so you will need to be patient. The shop front is super tiny, and it can get super squashy. And of course, in true Gelato Messina style the lines are long and out the door. Our advice: do your homework and be prepared for what you want to order.
Well worth the wait.
